Welcome to the Association of American Educator's Opinion Roundup. Today, we will feature several different op-eds concerning charter schools, charter school legislation, and charter school authorization. 

The public charter school movement in Illinois has grown exponentially in the past 20 years, with an additional 145 schools open across the state and nearly 60 thousand students served. The vast majority of Illinois charter schools are in urban areas, especially Chicago.

New Jersey Charter School Applications Grow

With recent attacks on public charter schools in New York  making headlines, New Jersey’s charter school movement is actually thriving.  State officials have already received 38 charter school applications for new schools.  The majority of the proposed schools are in urban areas and provide choice for students seeking alternatives to low-performing schools.
